How do I get to the island?
From the mainland of Spain and other islands the quickest and most comfortable means is by air, provided by the main Spanish airlines. Also by sea from the ports of Barcelona, Valencia, Palma, Alcudia and Cala Ratjada.

Is it necessary to hire a car?
Obviously there are places on the island where hiring a car isn’t necessary. Nevertheless, to be able to visit the more attractive places at your own pace and pleasure, then hiring a car is recommended. In the case of travelling by ferry, you could bring your own car.

 Is it advisable to take out travel insurance?
Travel insurance doesn’t only cover medical assistance, but also lost luggage, repatriation, etc. and even cancellation costs in certain provable cases. For the modest fees involved, from our point of view travel insurance is recommended.

 What to see?
The island offers varied areas of interest, it has an abundance of nature reserves, unspoilt beaches, scenery, natural ports, megalithic monuments, history, gastronomy, etc. Click here for a brief introduction.

 What activities?
A wide range of possibilities are available. Water sports: dingy sailing, scuba diving, kayaking are practised on many beaches. The hiring of yachts, fishing boats, sailing or sky acuatic is found in the ports of Ciutadella, Fornells and Mahon. The majority of hotels/apartments have tennis courts, or padel and squash. Horse-riding courses or just horse-riding can be organised.
It is important to mention the numerous walks around the island, especially the ancient “cami de cavalls” (horses’ trail), that goes all the way around the island, as well as routes for cyclists. There is a 14-hole golf course which is in the process of being made into an 18-hole course
